About the Joe’s Valley Festival:

• Joe’s Valley Fest Mission: Enhance the local economy and build community by bringing rock climbers and locals together around our shared enthusiasm for the outdoors.
• Over 40% of the Fest’s revenue comes from Sponsorship dollars
• Over 50% of the Fest’s spend goes directly back to the local community, supporting local businesses, social services, and municipalities

Role Summary

• Overall coordination of all Fest Sponsorship and Athlete Clinic activities
• Part-time role (averaging 10-20 hours per month - minimal early/late year, peak leading up to Fest)
• Start date January 2023 (training to be provided)

Role Compensation

• Option 1
  • Commission for Sponsorship dollars raised
    • 15% of all sponsorship raised under $15,000 
    • 20% for all sponsorship raised above $15,000 
  • $1000 Fest stipend
  • Travel to and housing during the Fest
  • Be a part of something great and have the opportunity to give back to local and climbing communities

OR

• Option 2
  • $100 per month salary
  • Commission for Sponsorship dollars raised
    • 10% of all sponsorship raised under $15,000 
    • 15% for all sponsorship raised over $15,000 
  • $1000 Fest stipend
  • Travel to and housing during the Fest

Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Define and execute overall sponsorship strategy to meet objectives of the Fest
• Identify and pursue sponsorship targets
• Complete all required sales, negotiation and contract signing with sponsors
• Ensure sponsors deliver against commitments ($ and products) to schedule
• Communicate receipt of sponsor dollars for budget management
• Identify, confirm and manage athlete commitments for Fest Clinics
• Define strategy and coordinate athlete housing during Fest
• Point of contact for other nonprofit organizations and affinity groups involved in the Fest
• Point of contact for all communications with sponsors and athletes
• Monthly attendance at All Staff Meeting
• Physical attendance at the Joe’s Valley Fest (Oct 5-8, 2023)

Required qualification

• Extremely effective communication and negotiation skills
• Strong organizational skills, exhibited in a professional manner
• Accuracy in detailed work
• Ability to work effectively within a remote team with minimal supervision
• Acts in accordance with standards and values of the organization
• A high level of integrity, dependability and enthusiasm

Preferred skills / experience

• 3+ years of sales or other relevant work experience 
• Experience / connections within the outdoor industry
• Knowledge of the Joe’s Valley Bouldering Fest, including attendance at previous events
• Proficient in Google Suite applications
