Coalition Impact Report | Spring 2023

It’s hot, hot, hot in Joe’s Valley right now, but the Joe’s Valley Coalition is wasting no time developing sustainable climbing areas. One focus for the Coalition this year has been trails, including building new trails to boulders that didn’t have a clear approach, as well as improving existing trails so that they’re easier to find and use. Another focus has been the landings under boulders, which often require rocks and soil to be moved to create a safe platform that won’t erode in a single season. This season, our Coalition committee also received help from students of Snow College, funded by U.S. Forest Service grant funds. With their help, plus the financial support of our paying Coalition members, the Joe’s Valley Coalition has finished 6 trail projects, 24 landing projects, and 1 in-town clean-up of Orangeville.
